On July 27, 2015, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) issued Decision No. 2949/QĐ-BNN-TCTS on the temporary issuance of the list of good agricultural practice standards in the field of aquaculture that are entitled to preferential treatment such as VietGAP in the inspection and certification of food safety for exported seafood.

Accordingly, the good agricultural practice standards in the field of aquaculture that are entitled to preferential treatment such as VietGAP in the inspection and certification of food safety for exported seafood include:

1. GlobalGAP Standard (a global good agricultural practice standard developed and issued by an organization named FoodPLUS headquartered in Germany);
2. ASC Standard (developed and issued by an organization called the Aquaculture Stewardship Council, established by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and the Dutch Sustainable Trade Initiative (IDH));
3. BAP Standard (Best Aquaculture Practices developed and issued by the Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA)).

Facilities that have been certified with GlobalGAP, ASC, or BAP are entitled to preferential treatment as stipulated in Circular No. 48/2013/TT-BNNPTNT dated November 12, 2013, of MARD. This decision takes effect from the date of signing.

Additionally, on July 29, 2015, the Department of Quality Management of Agricultural, Forestry, and Fishery Products issued document No. 1988/QLCL-CL1 guiding the implementation of the aforementioned decision.
